on opening day of the 2002 baseball season, a 24 exposure roll of film was mailed to an individual living in each of the 30 cities with a major league baseball team. participants were asked to shoot the pictures sometime during the season, using subject matter of their own choosing. once the film was returned, it was processed and all frames from all rolls were printed. the prints were displayed against a backdrop of the box scores from the 2002 season, and the gallery floor was covered in live grass. the show opened on the first day of the 2003 season.
